Our Mission Statement
The Havelock Chili Festival pledges to continue honoring its legacy by producing memorable family-friendly community events that support local non-profit organizations through grants and scholarships.
We were able to award $20,000 in grants in both 2023 and 2024 for a total of $40,000.
HISTORY OF THE HAVELOCK CHILI FESTIVAL
Havelock is a small town that is proud of its partnership with Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, the largest Marine Air Station in the world.
The Havelock Chili Festival also cherishes its relationship with the leadership and Marines and sailors of MCAS Cherry Point.
In 1981, the Commanding General of MCAS Cherry Point suggested the creation of a festival that would provide his Marines, Sailors and their families
with an opportunity to connect with the Havelock community. Based on his vision, Havelock's Chili Cook-off concept was born.
Past Havelock Chili Cook-offs have included competitors from all over the great state of North Carolina and visitors from Arkansas, Colorado,
Missouri, New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
We are eager to once again offer an exciting opportunity for chili cooks and vendors across Eastern North Carolina and far and wide to participate
in this annual family-focused, safe event.
